I have been poring over some old photos (i have so so many unscrapped) that I have in storage boxes and have been finding little gems! Isn't it just the greatest when you find a photo that you totally forget was taken and it just brings back heaps of memories of that exact second in time. I love the way our brains work in this way, you are looking at a photo but you can also recall odd details like smells, music that was playing or special words that were said. This makes me want to scrap faster (as I know I'm way behind) because I never want to lose the thoughts that flood back from one single photo, the quicker I get them down the better.
I found at http://www.aliedwards.typepad.com/ these new journal cards that I hope will make me scrap faster. Here is a layout I did using the cards. ( my scanner chopped off the side, it is actually java cardstock all the way around). Good times tag is Heidi Swapp index tab.

journal words read :
It was Byron Bay in Jan of 1998, It was about 10pm and we were having dinner at the noodle bar. I can still see myself sitting across from you taking this picture. It was stinking hot and we sat out on the footpath and I can smell the Byron sea air combined with flavours of our yummy dinner & the night street air. As I look at this picture. I can hear very funky buskers playing next to our restaurant & see ourselves doing a bit of a dance in our seats. You were eating chicken Laksa and we were laughing about the way we say Laksa 5 times fast. We were definitely in love and held hands over the table. We talked about bands and our favourite songs the whole night. The streets were packed with people having fun, it was noisy, so noisy and we were just loving the atmosphere….such good times.
I also found these cute picture of each of my kids having a loving hug with their "wraps".

Great layout of your night in Byron Bay, Jo. Your journalling reads so well that even by the middle of reading through it, I could definitely hear the sounds & feel the rest of the senses of the atmosphere that you described.
ReplyDeleteLove this idea Jo. I have so many older photos that would suit it perfectly! Off to down load now! And those pics of the kids...super cute!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys for your nice comments, this blog is making me scrap and look at scrapping differently, I'm loving it and loving the "sensory scrapping" as I'll call it:)
ReplyDeleteP.S Renee you need to get a blog going so I can be inspired by your photos...please!!
Hi Jo,
ReplyDeletePopped in for a look after your comments on Di and Nicole's blogs.
LOVE LOVE LOVE that feet shot in your header. I am photo obsessed and love different shots, am huge fan of Tara Whitney's so wish she would come to OZ. I have had a few professional shoots but would love an outdoors one like yours.
I will post some LO's on my blog that use some of the professional shots.
Love your pages, they are so crisp and simple! Some times the kids take the best shots!Love the new Ali overlays too - am going to download. Did you print it 5 x 7 or did you make it bigger? Such a great idea - love the page. Thanks for sharing

That Nick is a good looking guy.....
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo. I wasn't sure if I'd be brave enough to start up a blog but I'm thinking about it. I wasn't following any blogs until the beginning of this year so it's complete chance that I've come across yours, Diane's & Nicole's upon all your beginnings. I found all of yours on the search for Renee's (reneesage whom Nicole S mentioned on her last post) if she had one - I'm nowhere near as clever as she is, I'm just lucky enough to share her name!
ReplyDeleteHi, I love the 'memories' download! Great page and great journaling - totally inspired to dig up some oldies.
ReplyDeletehi jo
ReplyDeletelove your memories LO, and also the one youve done of yourself.gorgeous both of them.
[Im guessing the comment by anonymous about your good looking husband just maybe might have been left by your husband?]lol.
anyway looking forward to seeing more of your pages.
